Skip everything else and try Cross-Over (my seven-day free trial which ends today, so I am buying a yearly subscription at half the price of Parallels). BEST OF ALL, IT WORKS ON THE NEW M1 MACS! Yes, Rosetta 2 will allow Quicken for Windows to work natively on a M1 Mac. Surprise, it works fine, small footprint and everything works (screens are sometimes a little slow and it’s not optimized for a 16-inch screen) but it works.

While I have been using Quicken for Windows via Parallels for years, after my MacBook Pro 16 had an issue requiring a new logic board with a week to repair, I took the opportunity to install a free trial version of CodeWeavers' CrossOver to run Quicken for Windows natively on MacOS on my loaner Mac.

Be aware, very aware that unless you have a very small data file, if you import a Quicken for Windows data file into Quicken for Mac (one way import only), you are definitely going to get a corrupted mess you will never recover from.Īs most of the posters here have already noted, it is much better to run Quicken for Windows virtually on a Mac. In the end it was a no go.they "had gone too far to go back and change everything."Įssentially, they are two separate programs on two different platforms with very little connection to one another. Simply put, the non-starter was that like all cross-platform programs, each platform must both use the same date files even if functionality is not the same. Intuit would have monthly (more quarterly) meetings to discuss what we liked and did not like and then would completely ignore us. Well, I was an original Alpha and Beta tester of Quicken for Mac.

Banktivity on Mac is really the only viable alternative. The alternatives are always slightly lacking. Absurd.Īnd yet, like everyone, I still use it.

The worst thing of all is like someone said, if you report this they ask you to find other users with the issues and vote on fixing it.

Mobile apps are full of bugs and inaccuracies, such as investments being doubled or net spending reports double counting your taxes or 401(k) contributions which only happens syncing to the Mac version There's no excuse for back-end support being different Still no parity with supported banks and institutions. Why are there still two places to enter a bill payment? Why do they show different status for the same payee? Why does it say $100 is due after you've paid it? Why do you have to both pay and mark as paid as separate steps? Why does it tell you the next bill is due before it is, with the prior payment as the due amount? Bills and Payees is buggy and confusing. You still can't create your own graphical reports trending reports over time are really limited, drill down in reports (from say categories to payees within a category) are non-existent Still won't show transfers in the summary and canned reporting (the bespoke reporting won't allow you to choose which transfers to show, only show or don't show)- Customized reporting is a joke. Agreed, but there are also still a lot of functional deficiencies, and feature additions have slowed significantly to the point that major point updates don't actually add anything new.
